Sungurlu Municipality's Picnic and Park Areas
Sungurlu Municipality maintains four picnic and park areas, grouped under its “Social Facilities” category, for public use within the district. Sungurlu, known as the gateway to Hattusa, relies on these facilities to meet the day-trip recreation needs of both local residents and visitors passing through the region.
Akçalı Mesire
Located on the Mahmatlı road, away from the town centre and surrounded by nature, Akçalı Mesire covers roughly 100 dönüm (about 10 hectares) and contains 60 to 80 gazebos (kameriye). According to the municipality’s own description, it is one of the recreation areas residents had long awaited.
Kent Park
Built in 2019 on about 50 dönüm of land, Kent Park was designed as a multi-purpose space usable throughout the day. Besides walking paths, a running track, exercise equipment and gyms, it includes a cafeteria; together with the semi-open areas on either side of the cafeteria, it forms an event space for 1,200 people, also used for Ramadan events and small-scale concerts.
Mesire Kafe
Opened in 2015, Mesire Kafe sits on a 141-dönüm site. Initially fitted with gazebos, a small mosque (mescit), restrooms, a play area and barbecue stands, the facility later added a cafeteria to expand its offering.
Yılmaz Ergişi Parkı (Kahve Otağı)
Opened in 2014, this smaller-scale social facility offers a cafeteria and a play area.
Location and Contact
Akçalı Mesire is reached from central Sungurlu via the Mahmatlı road, while Kent Park and Mesire Kafe are each listed with their own phone numbers on the municipality’s official pages (Kent Park: 0364 311 76 96; Mesire Kafe: 0364 311 76 75), meaning both can be called directly for information or to arrange a visit.
Visiting
