Laçin Kızılca Armudu
Laçin Kızılca Armudu is an early-ripening native pear variety grown in Çorum’s Laçin district. Locals also know it as “Orak Armudu” (sickle pear).
Characteristics of the Pear
Kızılca Armudu, sometimes called “Haziran güzeli” (June’s beauty) after its harvest season, is one of the earliest pear varieties to ripen in the region. It is described as a distinct native variety, different from other “kızılca”-type pears grown elsewhere.
Cultivation
Pear cultivation has been supported for years in Laçin’s villages (such as Kuyumcu) through sapling-distribution programmes; the district governorship and the district agriculture directorate have distributed thousands of pear saplings to growers.
Geographical Indication Application
The Laçin District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry filed an application with TÜRKPATENT for a designation of origin under the name “Laçin Kızılca Armudu.” According to TÜRKPATENT’s Geographical Indications Portal, the current application’s file number is C2026/000049, filed on 31.03.2026 (applicant: Laçin District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Bayram Hamgir).
