Kozören Reservoir
Kozören Reservoir (Kozören Göleti) lies near Kozören village in Çorum’s Mecitözü district and was built by Turkey’s State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) for agricultural irrigation. The Çorum Provincial Directorate of National Education’s “Şehrimiz Çorum” promotional booklet lists Kozören among the district’s reservoirs used for irrigation and power generation.
Capacity and Purpose
According to the inventory of lakes and reservoirs in the Çorum Province 2020 Environmental Status Report, Kozören Reservoir has a water volume of roughly 1,100,000 m³, and its recorded purpose is irrigation.
The Figani-Kozören Irrigation Project
DSİ’s 2016 Performance Programme lists “Çorum-Mecitözü Reservoirs (Figani and Kozören) Irrigation” as a separate investment item; Kozören Reservoir, together with the reservoir in neighboring Figani village, forms part of Mecitözü’s irrigation infrastructure. According to local press coverage, a closed-pipe irrigation network was laid covering roughly 3,200 decares of land in Kozören village.
Current Status
According to a 2017 report by Yayla Haber, construction and irrigation-network work on the reservoir was ongoing at the time. A separate 2020 report noted that, after a period in which the reservoir could not hold water, local farmers called for it to be reopened for agricultural irrigation as soon as possible.
